It was released in 2017 as a sequel to the 2012 film Race 2. Despite this apparent setback, Race 3 became the third-highest grossing Bollywood film domestically of 2017 after Tiger Zinda Hai and Padmaavat (film), as well as fifth highest-grossing Bollywood film internationally that year. The movie also had a strong opening with business worth at the domestic box office with positive reviews from critics praising Khan's performance and direction of Remo D'Souza. It also grossed around at the international box office.
The movie was released on DVD and Blu-ray with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound and English subtitles. It was distributed by Tips Music Films across all regions in a single edition on 26 June 2018. The music of the film is composed by Ravi Shankar, Tanishk Bagchi, Jeet Gannguli and Anupam Roy while lyrics are penned by Sanjay Masoom, Kausar Munir, Asees Kaur, Shadab Faridi and Bunty Bains. Songs are sung by Atif Aslam, Nakash Aziz, Shreya Ghoshal, Benny Dayal, Mika Singh, Aastha Gill, Harshdeep Kaur and Altamash Faridi. The lyrics of "Jeena Jeena" were adapted by Kausar Munir from the song "Muhabbat Hai Tu" from the 1994 film "Aankhen". Originally composed by Nadeem-Shravan and sung by Kumar Sanu and Sadhana Sargam. The tracks "Jeena Jeena" and "Chal Pe Chale" topped the charts in India and abroad. "Jeena Jeena" was also the tenth highest-selling song in the Indian Music Charts in 2017, with an estimated nett worth of . The soundtrack album was released on 9 July 2017 by Tips Music Films. It has six songs; five original tracks and one track "Jeena Jeena" (Sadhna Sargam) (based on Muhabbat Hai Tu).
The film received generally positive reviews from critics. Rachit Gupta of Bollywood Hungama gave 4 out 5 stars and commented "Race 3 is amazing, fast-paced, fresh, being a sequel to Race 2 is not really necessary but it's there just because Remo D'souza is the director".
